Donald J. Innes, age 87, of Port Huron, formerly of Deckerville, passed away Tuesday July 25, 2017 at Port Haven Manor.
He was born May 10, 1930 in Deckerville, the son of the late James and Gertrude (McLeod ) Innes.
Don grew up in the Deckerville area and attended the McGregor Country School and later graduated from Deckerville Community School. On September 19, 1953 he married Miss. Dorothy Srock in McGregor. He served in the Army National Guard from 1951 to 1953. He was a lifelong area farmer and drove school bus for the Deckerville Community Schools. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deckerville and Gideon's International.
He is survived by one son Alan (Darlene) Innes of Deckerville; and two daughters, Donna (Lou Conti) Innes of Kalamazoo, and Tammy (Jeff) Williford of Deckerville; two grandchildren, Adam (Rachel) Innes and Heather Williford and three great grandchildren, Athena Innes, Faith Innes and James Innes; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother James Innes and one sister Alice Tarzwell.
Funeral services to honor the life of Donald J. Innes will be 11:00 AM., Saturday July 29, 2017 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor Jed Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 PM Friday and from 10:00 AM., until the time of service on Saturday.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or Gideon's International.
