Florence Hamill Obituary
Florence Edwina Hamill, age 94 of Deckerville, passed away Sunday December 10, 2017 at The Grand Traverse Pavilions, Traverse City, MI.
Florence was born in Palms, MI on April 27, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Lucy (Partaka) Zdrojewski. She married Cecil Hamill on November 4, 1939. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1983.
Florence was a long time member of St. Patrick's and St. Mary's Catholic church. She worked many years helping on the mint and potato farm as well as Dr. Rutz's Dentist office as his dental assistant and at Deckerville Community hospital as an aide and also at the Deckerville IGA. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She could put on a full course meal at a moment's notice. She loved to travel and would play cards anytime. She spent her winters in Florida and her summers in Michigan for many years.
Florence is survived by her 4 children, Cecil (Lila) Hamill of Deckerville, Linda Schubel of South Haven, MI, Suzanne (Robert) Bowling of Deckerville, Sidney (Melody) Hamill of Traverse City, MI; 8 grandchildren, Natalie (Blake) Davis, Jill (David) Jozsa, Richard (Alesha) Hamill, LeeAnn (Ryan) Jacobs, Christopher Schubel, Clayton (Brenda) Bowling, Jennifer Bowling, Justin (Andrea) Hamill; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaron (Ricki) and Jared Davis, Nicholas Josza, Sidney and Kennedy Hamill, Hallie and Isla Jacobs, Madeline and Cooper Hamill and Leah and Clayton Jr. Bowling; 1 great great grandchild, Luke Davis, one sister Clara Essenmacher, one sister-in-law Doris Zdrojewski; family friend Elaine Ranz; several nieces and nephews and many loving family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; 6 siblings and their wives/husbands, Daniel and Louise Zdrojewski, James Zdrojewski, Anthony Zdrojewski, Edward and Bernita Zdrojewski, Lucille and Al Tepper, Grace and Edward Graff; one son-in-law, James Schubel and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Geraldine Hamill.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in ST. Mary's Catholic Church, Port Sanilac, with Father Donald Eppenbrock officiating. Burial will follow at Port Sanilac Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday in the Apsey Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice, Catholic Church, Will2Walk or charity of your choice.
