Alexander Schumann, age 88, of McGregor, died Thursday December 31, 2015, in the Sanilac Medical Care Facility.
He was born March 28, 1927 in Custer Township, the son of the late Fred and Amelia (Runk) Schuman.
Alex was a veteran of the Korean War where he was combat wounded, serving in the US Army, then later in the US Air Force. He sailed the Great Lakes for several years and worked at Buskirk's Saw Mill in Sandusky and at the Powers Hardware for several years.
He is survived by two brothers, William Schuman of Carsonville, Robert (Betty) Schuman of Lake Port, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Orvis of AZ, Mrs. Ruth Truitt of Marlette, and Emma Jean Jasper of Lapeer, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Henry and Walter and three sisters, Rose Schultz, Dorothy Sweet, and Lydia Parks.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Alex Schuman will be 2:00 PM Monday in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Griggs will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Monday.
Memorials may be given to the McGregor Methodist Church.
