Arnold McVittie age 85, of Deckerville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October
30, 2023. He was born February 27, 1938 in Deckerville to the late Walter and Marion (DeLong)
McVittie. He graduated from Deckerville High School and then attended Grand Rapids School of Bible
and Music where he met Sally, his beloved wife of 64 years. Arnold and Sally were married on
September 5, 1958 in Grand Rapids and lived out their married life in Deckerville.
Arnold co-owned a small family dairy farm where he worked until his retirement in 2000. He was a
faithful member of the Deckerville Bible Church where he served as a board member, Sunday school
teacher, Word of Life youth leader, choir director, and where he loved to sing while being accompanied
on the piano by his wife Sally. Arnold also served his community as a member of the school board and
the Marion township supervisor for many years. He was a hard worker and was known and respected as
a man that loved his Lord and family.
Arnold is survived by 3 children: Scott (Pat) McVittie of Deckerville, Suzie (Dennis) Wagner of Vandrbilt,
and Shellie (Ryan) Watters of Gaylord; six grandchildren: Scott (Katie) McVittie, Stephen (Megan)
McVittie, Seth (Malorie) McVittie, Shelby Sichta, Collin (Autumn) Watters, and Kalie (Justin) McAllistar;
six great grandchildren: Tessa, Nolan, and Finley McVittie, Olive and Archer McVittie, Marielle Sichta,
and the addition of another with Collin and Autumn expecting in February.
Arnold is also survived by his brother Keith (Rhoda) McVittie, sister Kathy (Bob) Lee; brother-in-law Larry
(Marilyn) Bush; sisters-in-law Connie DeYoung, Vikki (David) Lynema, and Cyndie (Wayne) Shepers, as
well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great- nephews.
Arnold was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sally, parents Walter and Marion, brother and sister-
in-law Jim and Deanna McVittie, and brother-in-law Jim DeYoung.
Arrangements were made by Apsey Funeral Home. Memorial arrangements will be made at a later
date.
