Colonel Ferguson Obituary

Colonel James Ferguson, age 80, of Deckerville, died Sunday November 29, 2020 in Autumnwood of Deckerville.

He was born May 6, 1940 in Kincaid, Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Harrison and Margaret (Garland) Ferguson.

He grew up in Carlton Place, Ont., where he attended and graduated from school. He started working for the Royal Bank of Canada out of high school as a "Professional pencil sharpener". He later became a branch manager and worked in several banks throughout Canada.

Jim enjoyed woodworking, gardening, lawn work, and card playing. He was a past member of the Rotary Club, and Colonel is his real first name.

On July 15, 2005 he married Linda Gillis in Marion Township.

Colonel James is survived by his wife Linda of Deckerville; one daughter Leigh Ann (Larry) Hall of Canada; one son Chris (Lana) MacDonald of Canada; four grandchildren, Jamie, and Lindsay Neilson, and Sloan MacDonald; stepchildren, Traci (Johann) Schultz of Argyle, Mike (Jennifer) Abbott of Pt. Sanilac, and Randy (Stefanie) Abbott of Deckerville; and Jillian Gillis of Deckerville;step grandchildren Grant, Allison, Tess, Charlotte, Blaine, Natalie, and Alayna; Two brothers, Wayne Ferguson and Scott (Janet) Ferguson both of Canada; and one sister Cathy (Allen) Toshack of Canada.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Sherry Ferguson and one sister-in-law Beverly Ferguson.

A memorial service is planned for a later date when his Canadian family can travel to the United States.

Memorials may be given to the Sanilac Humane Society.
