Eilene Cleland Obituary
Eilene Eleanor Cleland, age 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 21, 2018 at Autumnwood of Deckerville.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John E. and Edna L. Cleland and then moved to Deckerville in 1931.
Eilene graduated from Deckerville High School, as their salutatorian, in 1947. She loved attending her class reunions and organized their 70th last August. After high school, Eilene graduated from the Port Huron Business College in 1950. She worked at Nestles in Ubly, Michigan and other places as a secretary.
Eilene is survived by her brother, Donald J. (Elva) Cleland of Deckerville; nieces, Patricia Cleland of Haslett, Michigan, Joan Cleland of Sandusky, Michigan, and Barbara (David Salko) Cleland of Norwalk, Connecticut; nephew, Roger (Kathy) Cleland of Deckerville, Michigan and several great nephews and a great niece. She also leaves behind a devoted cousin, Orville Hooper, and many dear friends.
Eilene enjoyed attending East Marion Baptist Church and singing in their choir for many years. She loved listening to music, growing flowers, and visiting on the phone with her many friends.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Eilene Eleanor Cleland will be at Noon Thursday May 24, 2018 in the Apsey Funeral Home. Pastor David Frost will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM., until the time of service on Thursday.
Memorials can be made to East Marion Baptist Church.
