George Walton Mosher, age 102 of Marion Township, passed away Sunday December 2, 2018 in Autumnwood of Deckerville.
He was born April 10, 1916 in Cedardale the son of the late Charles and Rosella (Edwards) Mosher.
He married Violet Simmons on December 25, 1935. She preceded him in death June 29, 1984.
Walton worked at Ford tractor, the Cedardale County Garage, Ma Brown Pickle Plant and the Peat Moss Plant. He loved to go deer hunting and fishing. He started the Mosher Deer Camp in 1931, and his son Gerald and Grandchildren have continued the legacy. He is also known as the Checker King of Autumnwood.
He is survived by three sons, Gerald (Catherine) Mosher of Flint, John (Imogene) Mosher of Deckerville and George Mosher of St. Helen; also 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law Connie Mosher; sister Geneva Mosher and five brothers, John, Elmer, Roy, Clinton and Clarence.
Funeral services to honor the life of George Walton Mosher will be 11:00 AM., Saturday, in the Apsey Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Griggs will officiate.
Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 PM., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM., until the time of service in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the family discretionary fund or the Deckerville Methodist Church.
