Helen V. Mosure-Elder, age 98, of Deckerville, passed away Thursday January 23, 2020 in Autumnwood of Deckerville. She was born April 2, 1921 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Michael and Barbara (Yost) Pelt. Helen grew up in the Detroit area attending Catholic school. On July 7, 1941 she married Gerald Mosure, he passed away January 17, 1964. She then married Herb Elder on November 7, 1970. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1996. Helen enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Palms, was a hospice volunteer and volunteered at Autumnwood as a BINGO caller. She also served on the Deckerville Community Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Mosure-Elder is survived by four sons, Jerry (Toni) Mosure, Phil (Linda) Mosure both of Deckerville, Bill (JoAnn) Mosure of Columbiaville and Doug (Petra) Mosure of Palms; nine grandchildren, Craig (Marie) Mosure, Wendi (Kevin) Rayl, Michelle (Jeremy) Kosal, Robert (Wendy) Mosure, Dustin Mosure, Angel Mosure, Melanie (Phil) Heller, Russell (Kristan) Mosure, and Dana (Scott) Judge; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers Michael (Bunny) Pelt of Clinton Township, Richard (Maryann) Pelt of Harper Woods; one sister Ann McGuffin of Sterling Heights; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother-in-law Karl McGuffin. A funeral mass to honor the life of Helen V. Mosure-Elder will be 11:00 AM Monday in St. Isidore Parish/St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Palms. Fr. Adam Mahar will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00-9:00 PM in the Apsey Funeral Home and 10:00-11:00AM on Monday in the church.
