Ila Rumble Obituary
Ila Hooper Rumble, 98 years old of Deckerville, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 in her home.
She was born May 23, 1915 in Deckerville, the daughter of the late Hiram and Clara (Decker) Welt.
She had worked at Deckerville Community Schools as food supervisor for 20 years. She also worked at Deckerville community Hospital as food supervisor for several years.
She enjoyed her family and loved to cook and bake for them.
She married George Hooper on May 23, 1936. He passed away on July 3, 1976.
She then married Winston Rumble on July 29, 1978. He passed away on February 19, 1987.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Reva Stolicker and Elva McKay and a granddaughter, Sharron Riffert.
She leaves behind three sons, Gerald (Marian) Hooper of Deckerville, Stuart (Dawn) Hooper of Oscoda, MI and Donald (Regina) Hooper of Stanford, KY, two step-daughters, Shirley Tanton of Sandusky, MI and Phyllis Klenk of Oxford, MI.
She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, September 9 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the funeral will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00 am at Apsey Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Homan.
Memorials can be made to Deckerville Bible Church or Heartland Hospice.
