Lucene J. Hooper, age 92, of Sandusky, formerly of Deckerville, passed away Thursday September 10, 2015 in Stonegate Village.
She was born July 31, 1923 in Deckerville, the daughter of the late LeRoy and Vernie (Goheen) Boyle.
She married Ettrick Hooper on July 31, 1942 in Deckerville. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1998.
Lucene was a former employee of the Deckerville Community Hospital, and Yale Rubber, and a babysitter for many children from the Deckerville area. She was a member of the McGregor Methodist Church, a well-known seamstress who enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much, because none of them ever did anything wrong, according to Lucene.
Mrs. Hooper is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy (James) Bowerman of Carsonville, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren, and her twin sister Mrs. Doreen Heronemus of Midland.
Funeral services to honor the life of Lucene J. Hooper will be 12:30 PM., Monday September 14, 2015 in the McGregor Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Griggs and Jedidiah Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Downing Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM., until the time of service at church.
Memorials may be given to the McGregor Methodist Church or Gideon's International.
