Sally McVittie age 85, of Deckerville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 28, 2022. She was born January 25, 1937 in Grand Rapids, to the late Lawrence and Emma (Hall) Bush. She graduated from Grandville High School, and then attended Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music where she met her beloved husband Arnold McVittie. Arnold and Sally were married on Sept. 5, 1958 in Grand Rapids and lived in Deckerville.
Sally was a member of Deckerville Bible Church where she was a youth leader, organist, pianist and choir member for many years. Sally was very gifted in music. She played the piano beautifully and accompanied many youth in Word of Life events, and many vocalists in the church. Sally was fun loving and very energetic. Her hands were never idle. She loved being a homemaker and being an active part in her family's lives.
Sally is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arnold McVittie; 3 children: Scott (Pat) McVittie of Deckerville, Suzie (Dennis) Wagner of Vanderbilt, and Shellie (Ryan) Watters of Gaylord; six grandchildren: Scott (Katie) McVittie, Stephen (Megan) McVittie, Seth (Malorie) McVittie, Shelby Sichta, Collin (Autumn) Watters, and Kalie (Justin) McAllister; six great grandchildren: Tessa, Nolan and Finley McVittie, Olive and Archer McVittie, and Marielle Sichta. Sally is also survived by her brother Lawrence (Marilyn) Bush; sisters, Connie DeYoung, Vikki (David) Lynema, and Cyndie (Wayne) Schepers; brother- in-law Keith (Rhoda) McVittie and sister-in-law Kathy (Bob) Lee as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Deanna McVittie, and brother-in-law, Jim DeYoung.
Arrangements were made by Apsey Funeral Home. A memorial service for Sally will be held at a later date.
