Samuel Chen Obituary

Sam Chen, age 74, of Deckerville, Michigan, a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, August 22, 2014. His compassion, friendship, and caring outreach to others will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Lily Chen, and siblings, Holly Rose, Kingsley, and John Chen.
Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Emma Jean "Jeanne" (Bittner-Reisner) Chen of Deckerville, Michigan; his siblings, Mildred Chen of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Winston (Margaret) Chen, of Houston, Texas; his brother-n-law, Bill Bittner of Sandusky, Michigan, his sister-n-law, Sharon Bittner of Sandusky, Michigan, sister-n-law, Brenda (Terry) Boyer of Holt, Michigan; his children, Tanya Parsons of North Carolina, Natasha Chen (Alan Nadel) of Placentia, California, Rhonda (Reisner-Crothers) VanDeusen, of Ada, Michigan, and Toby Chen of Deckerville, Michigan; grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie) Parsons, Stephanie Parsons, Caroljean "Cj" Crothers (Rich Conrad), James "Jimmy" VanDeusen, and Sarah Nadel; one great-grandchild, Kolten Parsons; and many nieces and nephews, friends, and spiritual leader, Father Robert Schikora, Sandusky, Michigan.
Sam was born in Hawaii, one of six children, a longtime resident of Kingston, Jamaica, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada. He retired from Midwest Rubber Company, Deckerville, Michigan. A member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky, Michigan.
A celebration of Sam's life, memorial service, will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11 AM at the Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Catholic Church, 59 North Moore St., Sandusky, Michigan.
Sam's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bassam Afaneh, MD his staff at Deckerville Health Care and Deckerville Community Hospital; the Hospice Respite Unit at Deckerville Community Hospital; the staff of Advantage Home Hospice; Sam's Oncology team from University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan; and the personalized service of Brad Apsey of Apsey Funeral Home, Deckerville, Michigan.
