Garth Williamson Obituary
Garth Byron Williamson of Deckerville, Michigan passed away on August 20th, 2020, at the age of 89. After several months of declining health, Garth passed peacefully.
Garth was born in Deckerville on February 28th, 1931 to father Byron Williamson & Mildred (Kenny) Williamson. Garth was the fifth child in the family of 7, and the youngest boy. They lived on the family farm, where as a young boy, his love of farming and horses grew. Garth attended Deckerville Community Schools, graduating in the class of 1949.
After graduating, Garth began working on the family farm. One weekend night at the local roller-skating rink, he happened to catch the eye of Jackie Lawler. From that fated night on, their love began to grow. Garth & Jackie were married at the Methodist Church in Deckerville, on April 16th, 1955. They continued to raise their family on the farm. They had 4 children: two daughters, Lynnette (John) Tanton & Cheryl (Pat) Lindke and two sons: Daniel Williamson & Doug (Betty) Williamson.
Throughout the course of Garth & Jackie's life together, they enjoyed card club with friends and countless Euchre games. Anyone who encountered "Hammer", knows that he was always ready to tell a joke or share a quick story! He enjoyed mowing the lawn and tractor rides with his grandsons to keep up with the happenings on the farm.
Garth is survived by two sisters, Jeanette Kritzman of Cass City, Michigan and Joyce Raymer of Spring Lake, Michigan. He is also survived by his two daughters and one son, 7 grandchildren: Travis Tanton, Kristin (Tommy) Bezemek, Joshua Williamson, Jason (Autumn) Williamson, Laci (Bill) Fisher, Justin (Nicole) Lindke, and Timmy Tanton, and 9 great grand-children: Oliver Bezemek, Meadow & River Williamson, Liam, Reaghan & Glinnan Fisher, and Brody, Connor, & Kinsley Lindke.
Garth is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Jackie, son Daniel, and granddaughter Jennifer. He was also proceeded in death by his brothers & sister-in-law's, Ray & Elsie Williamson, Ed & Fidelia Williamson, Keith & Donna Williamson, sister & brother-in-law, Jane & Bud Maier and two brother-in-law's, George Raymer and Bill Kritzman.
A service honoring his life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday August 24th, 2020 at Washington Twp. Cemetery, Pastor Mark Garavaglia will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Apsey Funeral Home in Deckerville.
